HIV Care and Support
Sub-Saharan Africa is more heavily affected by HIV and AIDS than any other region of the world. In this region alone an estimated 22.5 million people were living with HIV at the end of 2007 and approximately 1.7 million additional people were infected with HIV during that year. More than 11 million children have been orphaned by AIDS.
These numbers seem overwhelming, but LIA and our partner churches are working to change the tide one life at a time. Through health training, abstinence programs, testing programs, prevention of mother to child transmission, AIDS support groups and home care we are serving those who are already infected and working to prevent more from becoming infected.
