Empower the Makueni Community this Christmas.

Life In Abundance (LIA) is serving to empower communities throughout East Africa by equipping the local churches to meet the needs of their neighbors. One community that is currently experiencing great need is Makueni, Kenya.

With 62% of its population living below the poverty line, LIA is appealing to friends and donors this holiday season to further support the work in Makueni, Kenya. This is a community that suffers from persistent drought, causing herdsmen and farmers to lose crops and livestock, making a sustainable form of income impossible.  Food shortages and contaminated water sources plague the community as well, perpetuating diseases and making the people more susceptible to infections and sickness.

In an effort to financially support the initial projects and programs planned for the community, LIA is asking its partners to consider giving to empower the Makueni community this Christmas.  Funds donated during this holiday season will support the community by:

-     Providing maize to be used for agriculture development and

        income.

-     Providing a donkey per household that will generate income.

-     Construction of a silo for grain storage amongst the community

        for periods of drought.

-     Offering micro-enterprise training for community members.

-     Creating a sustainable source of clean water.

-     Empowering LIA program officers to further their outreach to the

community for medical and educational purposes.

LIA has transformed their donate page to further support the Makueni community and has also utilized Facebook Causes to appeal to their fans and friends through this social networking channel.  LIA is asking its supporters to celebrate the birthday of Christ by giving a gift that meets the physical and spiritual needs of an entire community.
