At LIA we believe in an approach to health that addresses man’s whole being. That is why we spell holistic with a “w.” Our vision of life in abundance is one of wholistic health that integrates physical, mental, social, economic and spiritual well being. We believe that spiritual well being is central to the total health of people.

The strategy of our Wholistic Model is to equip local churches that already work directly with poor communities and empower them through visioning sessions, community organizing and leadership development.

Over 100 churches and over 3,000 community workers have been trained in this program to bring wholistic heath to communities. Each community is managed directly by a 9 member community committee with a group of 7 trainers providing technical supervision to 30 community health evangelists who are each responsible for 10 individual homes.

Each church is provided financial support to help implement programs that range from schools and feeding programs, to sanitation training and home based AIDS care. The financial support for each church lasts 3-4 years. At the completion of the project duration, LIA phases out leaving growing sustained activities in an empowered and motivated church.
