Programs Health
Over 1 million people die from malaria every year.
Diarrheal diseases have killed more children in the past ten years than all the people lost to armed conflict since World War II.
With simple hygiene measures, water disposal techniques, or mosquito nets, most of these deaths are preventable. Because many of the diseases that are impacting Africa, specifically children, can be prevented with simple measures, LIA has launched numerous health initiatives to help combat these horrible diseases.
With the help of our partner churches LIA trains Community Health Workers to bring about understanding of how to purify water, dispose of sanitation properly, and use preventative measures to stop the spread of disease. We also have on-going mobile medical, dental and eye-care clinics that work to immunize children, provide vitamins, meet immediate and on-going medical needs, pull diseased teeth, and provide public health education.
It is also important to mention that nearly all of our programs also contain a supplemental nutrition element to prevent malnutrition and starvation, especially among children age five and younger.
